Drag the area to keep
Choose an image to open the editor. The starting selection covers the full image, so you can immediately drag a corner or edge inward to remove unwanted areas.
Drag inside the selection to move the crop over the subject. Drag any corner or edge handle to change its size, or drag over a different part of the image to start a fresh selection.
Use a fixed aspect ratio
Freeform is useful when you want to choose the exact composition. Use a fixed ratio for common shapes such as a square avatar, a 16:9 banner, or a 4:3 image.
The ratio stays locked while you resize, which makes it easier to prepare images for profiles, thumbnails, social posts, and video banners. The cropper keeps the selection inside the image as you adjust it.
Crop first, resize second
Cropping removes the parts of an image you do not need, while resizing changes the dimensions of what remains. For the cleanest result, crop to the right composition first and then use the Image Resizer if you need an exact final width or height.
Choose the right export format
PNG is a good choice for transparency, logos, screenshots, and crisp artwork. JPEG usually produces smaller files for photographs, while WebP is a compact option for modern websites.
JPEG and WebP include a quality control. Higher quality preserves more detail but creates a larger file; lowering it can make a useful difference when preparing images for the web.
Your image stays local
The original image is read by your browser and drawn to a canvas for export. It is not uploaded to NAB Tools, stored on the server, or sent to an account.
That also means the cropper works without signing in. Keep the page open until your export has finished, then use the download button to save the new image to your device.
